Philip Heckman, the designer and creator of LowTee™ swimwear, is a Miami native who made New York City’s East Village his home in the early nineties. While pursuing a MFA in Costume Design at NYU Tisch School of the Arts Philip became fascinated with the idea and process of reinventing existing garments through deconstruction and reconstruction. Creating unique, fresh looks by taking ordinary attire and transforming it into something extraordinary is a skill that made the designer thrive and prosper in numerous off-Broadway stage productions. Philip’s unconventional approach to design started to attract solo performers and artists who craved his one of a kind garments for their own performance wardrobe. Eventually, some of Broadway’s biggest costume designers sought him out to assist them on lavish, big budget musicals. After working several years behind the scenes on many Broadway shows, a feature film, and television, Philip has channeled his design experience into a line of men’s swimwear called LowTee™. Returning to his original work aesthetic of creating beautiful, attention getting garments by breathing new life into “off-the-rack” clothing LowTee™ was born. LowTee™ offers men’s swimwear a unique, one of a kind handcrafted touch that will make anyone who wears one stand out in a crowd.
